Hello everyone,
I've been searching for a job for some time now, and the other day, I was searching online, and I found a company in my area, that's looking for workers. The company is a call center, and the positions that are available, are for people to work as inbound collectors. I'm not one who feels comfortable being the person who has to call others, to collect their debts, but since these are inbound calls only, I figured I could try it, since that means I won't have to be the one calling. The people call you, and you help them with whatever they need.
anyway, I was just wondering if anyone here has ever worked at a place that does this sort of thing, and if so, how did you like it? Was it an easy thing to do with JAWS, etc.? .
I work at a rehab center, and we've placed a lot of people in call centers and/or helped them get set up on their current job at one learning to use adaptive software. Do you have a rehab counselor? It would help if you are receiving some vocational rehab services or if other visually impaired people already work at this center so that management knows what is possible in terms of technology.
I never see him on the zone these days, but T-roy was one person we helped place in a call center. You might want to leave him a PM and see if he gets back to you.
Yes, I do have a vocational counselor, and I called her this morning to let her know that I found this job, and that I'm interested in it. She was out of the office today, so I left a message, and now I just have to wait and see if she calls me back. I'll wait until tomorrow afternoon, and if she doesn't call back, I'll try calling her again. I'm not sure if there are other visually impaired people working at this particular call center, but I have heard of blind/visually impaired people working at places like this. I'm not sure what kind of programs/software they use, so that's another thing that my counselor and I will have to find out.
Hi, Gemini
. Feel free to private message me about this as well. I currently work in a call center and have since October. It is inbound, meaning the customers call me. Previously, I tried working from home doing outbound calling, but, it just wasn't working for me. I am fortunate in that the company I work for is very blind friendly, there are four of us who work there. The company had five blind employees, but one left after his year was up. The company does provide JAWS for us to use, though that is not always the case. I'd definitely love to discuss this with you further, so send me a private message and we'll go from there. Rachel
